Teen Talk
Teen Talk is a drop in service for Teenagers to discuss any worries or health issues with either a Youth Worker, Doctor or Nurse.
Teen Talk offers information for teenagers on;

· Contraception
· Pregnancy
· Sexually Transmitted Infections
You can come on your own or bring a friend – no appointment needed – and if it’s at all possible you can choose to see a male or female member of staff.

Baby and childhood immunisations 
Our nurses provide routine immunisations to protect young children from serious childhood diseases. We can offer up-to-date advice and guidance about these immunisations.
Vaccinations - Children: All children should be have routine vaccinations as follows:
2 months: Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis (whooping cough), Polio, Hib & Pneumococcal
3 months: Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis, Polio, Hib (type b) & Meningitis C
4 months: Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis, Polio, Hib (type b), Meningitis C & Pneumococcal
Around 12 months: Hib (type b), Meningitis C
Around 13 months: Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR), Pneumococcal
3 years and 4 months or so after: Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis, Polio & MMR
13 to 18 years old: Diphtheria, Tetanus, Polio
Baby clinics
These are drop-in clinics run fortnightly on a Wednesday morning at the surgery with the health visitors, practice nurses and GPs, providing advice on keeping your baby healthy.
Family planning
We advise on and provide all forms of contraception, including the fitting of contraceptive coils and contraceptive implants. This service (as with all our medical care) is completely confidential.
Minor surgery
Minor surgical procedures can be carried out in the practice, including the removal of a small lumps and bumps and administering joint injections.
Travel vaccinations
The latest health advice is provided for overseas travellers, and we can administer most recommended travel vaccinations.
Influenza and pneumococcal vaccinations
The influenza vaccination is given annually to over 65-year-olds, and a one-off injection is given for the pneumococcal vaccination. Both vaccinations are also given to patients in ‘at-risk’ categories, which include those with heart or lung conditions, diabetes, those with no spleen and those with a weakened immune system (for example, patients undergoing cancer treatment).
Diabetes clinics
We offer weekly clinics by a highly trained and qualified diabetic nurse, to monitor this condition. Additional support is provided by a wider range of health care professionals including podiatrist, dietician and if required consultant care.
Cardiovascular clinics
Heart disease in the community is cared for by our specialist nurse. Conditions, such as angina, strokes, peripheral vascular disease are managed on an ongoing basis at our weekly dedicated clinic.
Asthma clinics
These clinics provide regular checks for all adult patients with asthma. For children under 16 years, please consult with the GP. Through these clinics we ensure you are receiving the most appropriate medication and treatment.
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
To help us manage this condition, we use a spirometer (breathing test) to help diagnose, treat and monitor patients with chronic obstructive airways disease, chronic bronchitis and emphysema.
Smoking cessation clinics
To help you break this habit, these one-to-one weekly sessions will use the full range of medication available to us, including tablets, patches, gum etc.. Motivation and support is key to your success.
Cervical cytology/smears
All women aged between 25 and 64 years are advised to attend the surgery for regular smears. These are done every three years up to the age of 50, and then every five years.
Additional services
The practice can provide access to a wide range of services when needed. These services include counselling, occupational therapy, social services, exercise on prescription (through the BEEP Scheme) etc. Access is usually provided through referral by the GP or Nurse Practitioner, although some services are through self-referral – please ask a member of the team for advice.
Non-NHS services
Insurance medicals, medicals for HGV drivers and other professions are carried out by GPs, and appointments can be arranged by our receptionists. Non-NHS services are charged using a scale as recommended by the BMA.
